Boundless Borders, Marginalized Voices: A Manifesto was an international contemporary art exhibition presented at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris in July 2023. Bringing together artists and cultural practitioners from different countries and cultural backgrounds, the exhibition explored the capacity of contemporary art to transcend geographical, cultural and social boundaries while creating a platform for diverse and underrepresented voices.

At its core was a belief in art as a means of communication across difference. Through practices shaped by distinct cultural backgrounds, personal histories and lived experiences, A Manifesto considered how contemporary art could challenge established narratives, make less visible experiences perceptible, and create new encounters between individuals and cultures.

Selected from hundreds of international submissions, the exhibition presented 80 artists working across painting, photography, moving image, sculpture and installation, creating an open international platform in which different artistic languages could coexist, intersect and enter into dialogue.

Participating artists came from China, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore and beyond. Drawing upon different cultural contexts and personal experiences, their works responded to questions of identity, society and contemporary life. Together, these practices reflected both the diversity of individual artistic positions and the increasingly interconnected conditions of contemporary cultural production.

The exhibition was jointly organised by the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA), the Association pour le Développement des Échanges France-Chine (A.D.E.F.C.), and the Asian Academy of Arts, with support from Artron Art Group, Yapai International, Vieunite, MANA Platform, ARTWORTH Gallery, WeMeet Club and Art Spectra.

Within the curatorial framework, the idea of a “manifesto” functioned not simply as a declaration, but as a collective platform for expression. Through personal narratives, lived experiences and creative perspectives, the participating artists addressed questions of cultural identity, marginalisation and social difference. Rooted in inclusion and cultural convergence, the exhibition foregrounded the potential of art to transcend boundaries and amplify voices that are less often heard.

The opening ceremony welcomed approximately 3,800 attendees, bringing together guests and audiences from the fields of international politics, business, art, technology and media. Within the international setting of the Carrousel du Louvre, the project created a meeting point for artists, audiences and cultural organisations from different backgrounds.

Boundless Borders, Marginalized Voices also marked the beginning of the wider A Manifesto exhibition series. Subsequent editions continued in Hong Kong and Paris, extending the project's ongoing engagement with cross-cultural dialogue, artistic diversity and emerging international practices.
