Exhibition Overview

Between Order and Radiance was presented at 1 Birdcage Walk, London, from 5 to 9 March 2026, organised by the Asian Academy of Arts. It marked jewellery artist Lu Ying’s first solo exhibition in London and the first comprehensive international presentation of her self-defined “Nouveau Deco” aesthetic.
 

The exhibition brought together 14 one-of-a-kind high jewellery works across three chapters: Nature Vive, Architectural and Mathematics. Moving from organic forms and architectural structures to mathematical systems, the works explored how geometry, material experimentation and the relationship between jewellery and the body can reshape contemporary jewellery practice.
 

Working between Shanghai and Paris, Lu Ying has developed a 1668°C titanium forging technique, using aerospace-grade titanium alongside moonstone, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. In the exhibition, these materials were organised through precise structural relationships, allowing jewellery to move between ornament, sculpture and wearable architecture. Through this framework, the exhibition positioned jewellery between natural formation, architectural reason and mathematical order, considering its potential as both an embodied artistic practice and a carrier of cultural meaning.
