Veronique Chen is an independent curator and cross-cultural practitioner based between London and China. She holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London. Currently, she serves as a Project Coordinator for the Asian Academy of Arts and was a founding curatorial member of the Hangzhou Lunar Museum.

Her practice operates at the intersection of contemporary art, heritage, and social ritual, with a specific research focus on intangible cultural heritage (ICH), traditional craftsmanship, and food-based artistic methodologies.

Her international portfolio includes coordinating the academic forum Art and Marking at the British Museum (2026) and contributing to the A Manifesto exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris (2023). Her independent projects in London have been presented at venues including Pushkin House, Hypha Studios, and No Format Gallery, the latter as part of the Deptford X festival. In China, she spearheaded the Wild Emotions international residency in Zhejiang, facilitating cross-cultural research and production for UK-based artists within local contexts.

Locality

Prioritising a deep connection between art and specific geographical environments. By excavating local narratives, this approach recontextualises intangible cultural heritage within contemporary life, fostering an authentic dialogue between artistic expression and the land.

Research Philosophy

Collaboration

Viewing curation not merely as display, but as a transdisciplinary collaborative practice. By engaging artists and local communities, this methodology dissolves creative boundaries to catalyse artistic expressions rooted in collective identity.

 Process-oriented

Emphasising the dynamic progression of research, fieldwork, and artistic interpretation. The focus lies in the "becoming" rather than just the "finished" work, exploring the survival and evolution of cultural heritage amidst the currents of modernity through an iterative, generative process.
